HOUSE CONCERT - DIANA SAEZ Thursday, March 25 at 6:30 pm

A native of Puerto Rico, Diana Saez is a beloved champion of the arts and served for 25 years as the founder and artistic director of Coral Cantigas. She also served as the artistic director of the World Bank-IMF Chorus for 16 years and directed the Catholic University Women’s Choir for six years. She earned a Master of Education from Harvard University, a Master of Choral Conducting from Temple University, and a Doctorate in Musical Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Tony Taylor Award from the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington, the Arts in Community Award for Excellence from Montgomery County, MD, and the Poder con Ganas Award from the Hispanic Democratic Club of Montgomery County, in recognition of her outstanding achievements and sustained leadership in empowering the Latin American community. She was recently appointed as the Director of Choral Activities at Towson University where she directs the TU Chorale, Women’s Choir and Choral Society, and is in much demand as a guest conductor, adjudicator and lecturer in the United States and abroad.
The March 25 virtual House Concert will introduce audiences to the beautiful songs and rhythms of Latin America. Drawing from the musical heritage of the Caribbean, Central and South America, Diana will perform songs in Spanish while sharing the cultural and historical background of the songs which include: “Soy Pan, Soy Paz, Soy Más” by Piero, “Gracias a la Vida” by Violeta Parra, “La Jardinera” by Violeta Parra, “Razón de Vivir” by Victor Heredia, “Boricua en la Luna” by Roy Brown and Juan Antonio Corretjer.
There will be an opportunity at the end of the program to meet Diana, ask questions, and express gratitude!
