LINDA HARRIS AND DAVID COLE: A Musical Journey Along the Underground Railroad—Celebrating the Life & Legacy of Harriet Tubman

Linda Harris has been on an extraordinary journey, performing in the U.S. and abroad and celebrating her roots in folk and gospel, jazz and blues, while also writing and recording original songs. Her “Walks with Harriet Tubman” were written up in the Washington Post and the New York Times. She currently serves as the Education Director at the Harriet Tubman Museum and Education Center. https://lindadharris.com/

David Cole began playing guitar at a young age. He has performed with Roberta Flack, Archie Bell, The Clovers, The Orioles, Percy Sledge, the Delphonics and more. He co-founded the group Main Street Blues which headlined in the first International Blues Festival in Paraguay, and has conducted a series of master classes relating “The History of the Blues and The Civil Rights Movement.” David was also a music teacher in DC Public Schools for 30 years!  www.davidbcolemusic.com/

Munit Mesfin is an Ethiopian-American singer, songwriter, teaching artist, and producer. A celebrity in Ethiopia with over 143,000 Facebook fans and followers, and a pioneer of the Ethio-Soul movement, Munit brings elements of jazz improvisation, reggae grooves, and folk idioms from around the world, with soulful, sultry melodies in her Ethiopian flavored style. Her influences can be traced to many sources, from Girma Beyene to Miriam Makeba, Roberta Flack to Zap Mama, Bob Marley to Chaka Khan! Born in Ethiopia and raised in India, Namibia, South Africa, and the U.S., Munit exemplifies the concept of a global citizen. GERDAN: Music and Culture of Ukraine

A highly engaging performance featuring world-class musician Solomia Gorokhivska and GRAMMY award winner Andrei Pidkivka, who weave traditional Ukrainian folk melodies and rhythms with newer styles, encouraging audiences to join with them in honoring, celebrating, and supporting Ukraine and its extraordinary history and culture.
