Dr. Kathy Bullock

Berea, KY

Dr. Kathy Bullock (she/her) is an educator, scholar, singer, accompanist, arranger and choral conductor specializing in gospel music, spirituals and classical works by composers from the African diaspora.  A Professor Emerita of Music from Berea College, she teaches, performs, and conducts workshops and programs on African American music throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa.

Shruthi Veena Vishwanath

Pune, India

Shruthi Veena Vishwanath is a singer, composer, and educator from India. She specializes in the mystic music of the Indian subcontinent - specifically, Nirguni, Bhakti, and Sufi music. Additionally, she has a deep interest in composing and performing poems written by women and other marginalized voices.

Jo Rasi

Takoma Park, MD

Jo Rasi (she/her) is the director of the Daily Antidote of Song. She is inspired by the connections between social justice and music, and by her work with fabulous artists from all over our planet who work hard to make the world a more equitable place. She brings her training in ethnomusicology, folklife, traditional arts, and protest music to all her projects, believing that creating art spaces focused on inclusion, access, and education can bring about real change.

Liz Ikamba

Wales

British-Congolese (DRC) singer and multi-instrumentalist Liz Ikamba (she/they) cross pollinates musical and cultural influences, seamlessly blending the rich and vibrant sounds of Congo folk music with elements of Jazz and Soul. This awareness of global musical and cultural influences continues to inform her artistic and musical output. In addition to her work as a performing artist, Liz is also a motivational vocal leader and creative facilitator in her outreach work with groups and communities of all ages and backgrounds.

Elise Witt

Atlanta, GA

Singer, composer, educator, recording artist, and activist Elise Witt (she/her) brings her enthusiasm, energy, and global community to everything she does, including the DAS. Elise's shares her concerts of Global, Local & Homemade Songs™ and her Impromptu Glorious Chorus™ workshops around the world, creating and inspiring singing communities through the connective power of music.

 

 

Namvula

Oxford, UK

Namvula is a singer and songwriter whose artistic journey is an exploration of cultural intersections and heartfelt storytelling. Her music reflects the nuances and complexities of her mixed Zambian and Scottish heritage, and a restlessness born of her diasporic upbringing. Namvula is known for weaving together a global soundscape that takes inspiration from the deep grooves of Africa, the lyrical sensibility of folk-pop, and the improvisational freedom of jazz.
