Centered On Arts
Centered on Arts is a collaboration between Carpe Diem Arts and the Montgomery County Department of Recreation with the goal of arts integration in recreational programs. Professional teaching artists present performances, workshops and residencies in area community and senior centers -- as part of MoCo Rec summer camps, after-school enrichment, and special programming for seniors. Current offerings include Hip-Hop Dance, Freedom Quilt Banners, a Mural Residency, African Dance and Drum, Puppet-Making, Ukulele, Songwriting, International Folk-dancing, Salsa Dance, Squares and Contras, Swing Dance, Creative Writing, Book-Making, Theater, Decoupage and Collage, Mosaics, and more.

NOTE: The project will be introduced as phase 1 of the larger mosaic mural project. The images that the youth create will be used as elements for the future multi-cultural and inter-generational mosaic creation in the fall.
